Our old guide took in everything from the tropical drinks at Turtle Bay to the classics at London Cocktail Club. Different moods, different rooms, and plenty of reasons to order something beyond your usual.
The photos are half the fun of looking back. Espresso martinis, bright fruit-filled glasses and a spritz or two: there’s no single right answer to a drinks date.
A few names from our notebook
Be At One, Steinbeck and Shaw, Las Iguanas and the bar at ZaZa Bazaar all made it into our original roundup. We were looking for a mix of atmosphere, choice and value.

For us, the best bit is still the same: finding somewhere to sit, putting the phones down after a quick photo, and enjoying the company.
