There’s always room for a doughnut. Bristol has given us plenty of reasons to put that theory to the test, from stuffed sourdough favourites to playful vegan creations. These are a few stops from our original food journal.
A fresh edit of our original food diary. Photos and visits are from our archive; current menus, offers and opening hours may differ.
Start with a sourdough classic
Pinkmans was one of the first places in our original doughnut guide. The appeal is easy to see: a substantial sourdough doughnut, a generous centre, and a topping that gives you a little hint of what’s inside.
Our archive photograph captures a rhubarb and chocolate version. Flavours change, so treat the photo as inspiration for your next bakery visit rather than a current menu.
Something a little different
We also featured Future Doughnuts for its vegan bakes and imaginative flavours. The railway arches around Temple Meads made a lovely setting for a sweet stop on a wander through the city.
Make time for Small Goods
Small Goods brought classic fillings and weekly specials into our original shortlist, alongside coffee and savoury pastries. It’s the sort of combination that can turn a quick coffee into an unplanned lunch.
Our approach? Go with someone who’s happy to share, pick different flavours, and try a bit of each. Choosing just one is the difficult part.
